The Value of Landscaping

Can landscaping improve the value of your home? The answer is yes, landscaping can add several thousand dollars to your property value. The fact is, it is one of the few home improvements a resident can make that over time not only adds value but continues to do so as the years go by. When compared to interior décor and designs that goes out of style regularly, your landscaping, if properly maintained, grows fuller and more robust over the years.

The saying 'the first impression is lasting' is a perfect statement for our neighborhoods. First impressions count because the first thing a buyer sees is the curb appeal and the care of landscaping which can be indicators of how well home(s) are cared for and maintained.

According to research, a well-manicured landscaped property has a significant advantage in price. Research also shows that the advantage of a well-landscaped home ranges from 5.5% to 12.7% increase in value depending on the type of landscaping and the original value of the home. However, there is more to landscaping than sticking flowers and a couple shrubs in the ground. Instead, buyers often look for landscaping that presents a manicured design, plant size and maturity even plant diversity.

To encourage an increased interest in community landscaping our Settlers Park/Grove YOTM program runs from April to September where homes will be judged and a monthly winner will be chosen and awarded a gift card of $100 from Lowes or Home Depot. The winner will also receive the YOTM sign to be displayed for that month. We are looking forward to some nicely manicured homes this summer!
