Good Day Homeowners,
It is with profound sadness that we must announce the closure of the pool for the remainder of the summer. As fellow homeowner and parents of children and grandchildren, the board members share in your disappointment. Please allow the board to explain the situation in more detail.
The board members made several attempts to get the pool ready for this summer. Initially, the board planned to delay major renovations until August. In the meantime, we invested funds in temporary repairs; however, these efforts turned out to be band-aids on a failing system. Unfortunately, the pool continues to present new issues. The pool was originally built in 1978 and, while it has undergone minor renovations over the years, it has never been updated to the extent now required. The decking and plumbing systems are failing, and the pump room—attached to the community building—has become a safety concern. Additionally, many of you may have noticed black algae in the pool. While it may appear unsightly, the algae is behind the liner. While it is not harmful, it is another symptom of our outdated infrastructure.
The board has met with one architectural designer and has another meeting planned with a second designer. So, we are also taking this opportunity to complete some much-needed cosmetic upgrades. These include:
- Removing the metal structures and installing a canopy
- Adding fun elements to the pool area
- Replacing outdated furniture with modern pieces
- Installing a new fence
- Relocating the two storage buildings to a separate area
The Board is asking around to local pools to see if we can get access for the owners for this summer.
In the future, we are considering additional amenities such as a dog park and a volleyball area. However, the pool remains our top priority at this time.
We understand how disappointing this is for everyone. However, as a parent, we know how upsetting this news can be. Once the renovations are completed, we will have a beautiful, safe, and modern space that we can all enjoy for years to come.
This is a great time to get involved in shaping the future of our community. We are just 4 of over 900 homeowners, and together, we can make a lasting difference.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Warm regards,
Your HOA Board
and
